Welcome to My Kitchen
Hi, I’m Laura Guillen though many people know me as Lizzie. Cooking has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and what started as a childhood curiosity has grown into a lifelong passion and career.
Where It All Began
My love for food started at home. Growing up, my dad would make pan dulce for my sisters and me, and I still remember how magical it felt the smell filling the house, the beautiful colors, and of course, the taste.
At the same time, my mom taught me how to cook at a young age. What began as a way to help have dinner ready after my parents’ long workdays quickly became something I truly enjoyed. I loved the process mixing ingredients, experimenting with flavors, and sharing meals with the people I cared about.
Finding My Passion
In high school, I discovered I could take culinary arts classes and I signed up immediately. It quickly became the class I looked forward to the most.
During that time, I joined a cooking competition team where we competed at BYU against other students in Utah County. My teammates and I earned a bronze medal, and although there was a small hiccup along the way, we were incredibly proud of what we accomplished together.

A Detour That Led Me Back
After high school, I took a step away from cooking to explore other paths. I worked in a warehouse for nine years, driving forklifts, pulling orders, and helping with shipping.
But even during that time, my passion never left me. I started baking and selling desserts to my coworkers who were incredibly supportive and always eager to try what I made. Their encouragement reminded me how much I loved creating food for others.
Returning to What I Love
When I was laid off, I saw it as an opportunity a push to finally return to culinary school and pursue my dream of becoming a chef.
There, I met amazing people who became close friends. Together, we learned, laughed, and created unforgettable memories. We were guided by an incredible instructor, Chef Tony, whose passion for teaching made the experience even more meaningful.
From soups and pastas to breads, steaks, cakes, and more, every lesson helped reignite the passion I had always carried with me.

Where I Am Today
Today, I’m proud to be starting my own catering company. It’s a dream that’s been years in the making, and I wouldn’t be here without the unwavering support of my family and friends.
What once felt like a simple love for cooking has grown into something much bigger a way to connect with people, create meaningful experiences, and share a piece of my story through every dish I make.
Thank You for Being Here
Whether you’re here to explore my work, book a service, or simply follow along on my journey thank you. It truly means the world to me.
Big Thanks!
Dear Chef Tony and Chef Kathy,
Thank you both for everything you’ve taught me throughout my time in culinary school. Your patience, understanding, and willingness to support me especially letting me bring my kids to class when I didn’t have a babysitter meant more than I can ever express. You weren’t just incredible teachers; you offered life advice, encouragement, and genuine care that helped me grow in and out of the kitchen. I’m truly grateful for everything you’ve done.
